Run Winstia on the hardware you already have
No locked-in box. Winstia works on Windows, macOS, Android, iPad and Linux — on the tills, tablets and POS terminals you already own — with the printer, scanner and card reader you choose.
One app, every operating system
Winstia is a web app that also ships as a native desktop app. If your device runs a modern browser, it runs Winstia.
Windows
Install the desktop app for an offline-capable, full-screen till with direct receipt-printer, cash-drawer and customer-display support. The richest Winstia experience.
macOS
The same native desktop app, signed and notarized by Apple — offline mode, printing and auto-updates included.
Android
Runs in any modern browser on Android tablets and all-in-one POS terminals (Sunmi, iMin, PAX, Elo). Add it to the home screen to launch like an app.
iPad & iPhone
Opens in Safari and installs to the home screen — turn an iPad into a counter till or a phone into a mobile register.
Linux
Download the desktop app as an AppImage for an offline-capable till with direct receipt-printer and cash-drawer support — the same native app as Windows and macOS. Or just open Winstia in any modern browser.
Buy open hardware, skip the locked box
The incumbents sell a sealed box that only runs their software and their card processor. Winstia runs on open, off-the-shelf hardware — usually cheaper, and yours to keep.
Works great with Winstia
- Open Android all-in-one terminals — Sunmi, iMin, PAX, Elo
- Android or iPad tablets (add a stand + card reader)
- Windows touchscreen tills (HP, Elo, Aures, Posiflex)
- A generic USB or network receipt printer + cash drawer
- A USB/Bluetooth barcode scanner and a customer display
- A card reader from Stripe or Square
Avoid if you want Winstia
- Square Register / Square Stand — sealed to Square's own app
- Clover devices — locked by Fiserv to Clover's software
- Toast terminals — restaurant hardware tied to Toast only
- Any “all-in-one” that won't let you open a browser or install an app
- Hardware that forces a specific card processor on you
These are closed ecosystems — you can't install other POS software on them, and they tie you to their own payment processing.
The counter hardware you expect
Connect the printer, drawer, scanner, display and card reader you already use — the desktop till drives them directly.
Receipt printers
Print straight to USB or network ESC/POS receipt printers — no browser dialog in the way.
Cash drawers
Kick the drawer open automatically on a cash sale, wired through the receipt printer.
Barcode scanners
Any USB or Bluetooth scanner works as a keyboard — scan to add items and look up products.
Customer displays
Show the running total and items on a second screen the customer can see.
Card readers
With Stripe or Square readers the sale total is pushed to the reader automatically — the customer just taps or inserts.
Bring your own gateway
Winstia isn't tied to one processor — connect Stripe, PayPal, Square or Mollie and keep your rates.
Self-checkout on your own hardware
Turn a spare tablet into a self-service kiosk, or let shoppers check out on their own phone — no expensive proprietary lane required.
In-store kiosk
A full-screen kiosk on any tablet — customers scan and pay at the station.
Scan-to-pay on a phone
Shoppers scan a store QR, add items on their own phone, and pay — no app to install.
“Will it run on my till?”
Almost certainly yes. If your till, tablet or terminal runs Windows, macOS, Android, iPadOS or a modern browser, it runs Winstia. The only thing to avoid is a sealed Square, Clover or Toast box that won't let you install other software.
